Animal Control.
Central Florida's county services only deal with domestic animal problems in the public right of way. In short, the county animal services capture stray cats and dogs as long as they don't have to enter your house.
If you have a nuisance wildlife infestation -- raccoons, oppossums, armadillos, rats, bats, skunks, squirrels, snakes and mice -- the responsibility belongs to the home or business owner to hire a licensed wildlife trapper.
Capturing wild animals is much more complicated than just setting a trap. It's a unique business with special risks that requires special training and skills. A professional trapper takes responsibility for removing a wild animal from your premesis or yard in a responsible way that reduces risk to those who inhabit the buildings.
Why can't I trap the animal and relocate it?
It is against the law for an unskilled person to trap a wild animal in the state of Florida.
Why doesn't the county take care of these wild animals?
Years ago the local governments did take care of nuisance wild life trapping and then the problem became too big and expensive for the local counties. All wild animal problems are handled by the private sector now throughout Florida. Companies like Pro-Line Professional Services must be licensed to provide wildlife control trapping. It is a special high-risk field that requires extensive training.
